Every professional has his tools. It helps them in doing things faster and better. So what tools a copywriter must have to help him in creating good copy and do it faster?

We’re living in a time when as a copywriter, we have access to a wide range of tools, that can help us up our game and create quality copy.

Here’s a list of 5 awesome tools that can help you write faster and better-

1. Evernote

In the good old days, writers used to always carry a pocket diary and a pen to note down ideas and to-do lists. In the mobile age, all you need is evernote in your mobile and you’re good to go. It helps you take and organize your notes and manage your to-do lists with great ease. It can also help you in your research by allowing you to save anything you find useful on the web- web pages, PDFs, images etc. You can neatly organize all the material by using tags and find them easily when required.

What I like most about evernote is its syncing across all devices. You can access your notes anywhere and on any device.

2. Sharethrough

In the digital age, headline or title matters. If your headline is not attractive, you will not get desired clicks and readers for your copy. That’s why I spend a lot of time to write titles.

A title should be attractive, clear and engaging to drive traffic and shares on social media.

My job became easier with Sharethrough. It’s a headline analyzing tool. You just need to enter the headline and it will provide you with analysis on your headline. It scores your headline on Quality, Engagement and Impression potential. It also identifies the strengths in your article and offers suggesting to improve it.

It took me less than 2 minutes to finalize the title of this article.

3. Grammarly

I like to write fast. And at one go. Naturally, there are often typos and grammatical errors in my first draft. Spell check on word documents have limited capability. So relying completely on them is not the best way.

But then I have grammarly.

It makes sure that whatever I write is error-free and clear. Grammarly helps you in many things than spell check. It identifies missing articles, repetitive works, comma usage and adjectives with suggestions.

The best part of Grammarly is that it’s a browser plug-in, so it works on a lot of platforms like Gmail, Twitter, Facebook and content platforms like wordpress etc. It presently doesn’t support Google Docs but works well with Microsoft Word.

4. Hemingway App

Another great writing assistant is the Hemingway App. It can lift your copy by boosting its readability. The app helps you identify wordy sentences, passive voice and adverbs. It also suggests you alternatives to phrases. Si, if you are someone who believes in writing simple and clear then this tool is for you.

The best part is that you can write your copy and edit it at the same place. You can download the app (Windows/Mac) and work offline.

5. Visual Inspector Scribble

Copywriters have to regularly collaborate with designers. The old drill is to-

  1. Create copy and share it with the designer
  2. Designer will incorporate the copy in the design
  3. And then there will be email exchanges for corrections, proof reading etc.

Visual Inspector Scribble makes it faster and easier to collaborate-

  1. Designers can upload the art boards to cloud and make the content editable.
  2. Invite copy writers to replace dummy text with original content
  3. Sync back final text in Sketch file locally

And done.

What I like most about Scribble is the control it gives to a copywriter to visualize and incorporate content as he needs. You can try out different styles and then pick the best.

Good tools make the life of a copywriter easy. More so in a fast-paced environment where there are deadlines and pressure to create more and better copy. Use these tools to save time and efforts while upping your game.
